Black Poppies

The Black African Caribbean Cultural Centre will host an all-day celebration on 7th November to honour and remember Black African and Caribbean veterans who served with courage and distinction throughout history. The event will bring together community members, families, elders, young people, historians, creatives, and veterans to reflect on the contributions and sacrifices made across generations.
Through storytelling, historical talks, exhibitions, cultural performances, music, food, and community discussions, the celebration will highlight often-overlooked histories and personal experiences of Black servicemen and women from Africa, the Caribbean, and the wider diaspora. The programme will also create opportunities for intergenerational learning, community engagement, and collective remembrance.
